Jerusalem: Capital of Israel or Palestine?
In a radical move away from the status quo, President Donald Trump announced yesterday that he and his administration recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and plans to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. This is a very foolish move on his part and the part of the administration by officially declaring Jerusalem as the official capital of Israel, Trump has moved towards from a two-state solution to a one-state solution and that is bad because there will be no peace and stability in the Middle East and it will ad more fuel to the fire.
Donald Trump wants to make a legacy for himself like his predecessors before him by making this move without realizing the consequences from a political and religious standpoint; politically the United States is abandoning the two-state solution that would block the effort of establishing a independent Palestinian Arab state and the rights of the Palestinians as a identity a culture and a people, religiously it will give the Jewish extremist settlers justification in taking over more land in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Trump isn't helping with the situation he is only creating more problems for that part of the world.
Jewish Lobbyists such as AIPAC and the Bnai Birith and the World Jewish Congress have been pushing for years for the United States government in recognizing Jerusalem as the official capital of Israel not for religious reason but for political and economic reasons. A lot of these organizations are personally influencing Trump on this decision and not caring about what will come out of this official decision. If Trump is going to be a politician of the people he has to learn to put all options on the table and look at the pros and cons before him and seek consul from advisers before making a final decision. In my opinion he just lacks the political experience and knowledge of world politics and geopolitical affairs of the Middle East.
