Riots are the Catalyst to something deeper within American Society.

2020 has been one interesting year, we begin the assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in Iraq, the Coronavirus Pandemic and the recent shootings of African American Men by White Police im the United States.

This is nothing new there have been race riots before from the Watts Riots of the 1960s to the Los Angeles of 1992 but never has there been massive and organized protests, riots and mass civil disobedience that has paralyzed an already weak economy due to the Coronavirus Outbreak and the Trade War with China.

Why has the death of one African American Man at the hands of police triggered such a massive response the whole country is in chaos? The murder of George Floyd transcends beyond race and it boils down to economic inequality and disenfranchisement for many decades and being able to participate fully in the economy. The Middle Class that was the backbone of our country and economy has almost disappeared and shrunk to what it was previously decades ago.

Many Americans have seen their savings, assets and income plummet overnight and there seems to be no social safety net to protect the most vulnerable of society. Corporations have continued to maximize their profits while paying little to nothing in taxes, many have under reported their income earnings and many have hid their income and assets in offshore accounts in order to escape paying taxes. The Criminal Justice System has decayed from within and people's justice can be bought by the highest bidder and many wealthy people get away with many horrible and appalling crimes from murder to child molestation to Tax Evasion.

The United States has shifted more from a democracy towards despotism and merging between Corporations and the State. Little by little Corporations have dismantled unions, decreased salaries, workers work more hours, limiting benefits or removing them altogether and no job security and pensions for workers when they get older.

Black and Brown people have been the most affected by State Corporatism and Crony Capitalism along with other institutional problems which makes it more difficult for them to provide for themselves and their families. Lack of educational and vocational opportunities makes it even harder for Black and Brown People to complete with Whites and Asians especially immigrants from India, China, Korea whom for the most part are highly educated and highly skilled getting the best jobs, best housing and a higher income, which causes animosity and resentment.

There needs to be oversight and accountability of the police when they do wrong and to be punished and removed from the police force and to raise the standards on how we recruit new officers and a creation of a data base to keep a record on police officers who don't follow the rules and a stricter background check. In order to prevent further abuses there needs to be community trust of the police and to have the public's respect and have an understanding of each communities needs not all communities are the same.

  1. I agree. Besides, I think there should be an extensive psychological test done to determine if a person is mentally fit to be a police officer. Too many power hungry people choose to go into the police force just so they can display authority in a way that pleases their twisted souls without them realizing they work to maintain justice, not to punish and harass mindlessly. It's a shame and it makes me really pisses...
